this page has biographies on sarah michelle gellar, alyson hannigan, nick brendon, james marsters and a small bit on david boreanaz.

Sarah Michelle Gellar was born on April 14 1977 in New York. An only child, she was raised on New York's Upper East Side by her schoolteacher mother, Rosellen Gellar.

At the age of three-and-a-half she was spotted by an agent whilst dining at a restaurant with her mother. Within weeks she was cast in a TV commercial.

By the age of four she had made her first commercial, acting for Burger King and complaining that McDonalds served skimpy burgers.

McDonalds sued her employers, thus beginning the infamous "Battle of the Burgers". The case was eventually settled out of court in 1982.

Luckily this early exposure to the more unpleasant side of the entertainment industry did not put her off a career in acting. Since Burger King, Sarah appeared in over one hundred commercials filmed over the following years which brought in a healthy income.

Sarah Michelle Gellar has created a television icon with her portrayal of Buffy Summers. After rising from the dead, Buffy has had to assume new adult responsibilities along with saving the world. The Slayer is also a single, workingwoman trying to raise her sister. She will be facing new challenges and threats, including a romantically rebuffed Spike, which promises the battle against evil is far from over.

Gellar was recently seen in the Warner Bros. blockbuster film "Scooby Doo," co-starring Freddie Prinze Jr., Matthew Lillard and Linda Cardellini, which premiered with the second highest-grossing June weekend opening in history. She also co-hosted "The 2002 MTV Movie Awards" with Jack Black, which garnered the award show's highest ratings in the network's history.

In 1997, Gellar starred in "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and "Scream 2." She won a 1998 Blockbuster Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in "I Know What You Did Last Summer." In 2000, she won the MTV Movie Award for her role in "Cruel Intentions." Her additional film credits include "Simply Irresistible," "Harvard Man," "Funny Farm" and "Over the Brooklyn Bridge."

Emmy Award-winning actress Gellar is a veteran of television, theatre and the big screen, having worked for nearly 19 of her 25 years. She is best known for playing the title role in the hit series BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, for which she received a Golden Globe nomination in 2001. She is also a spokesperson for Maybelline.

Gellar won an Emmy Award in 1994 for her role on the daytime drama "All My Children." She also starred in the made-for-television movie "An Invasion of Privacy" and the mini-series "A Woman Named Jackie," in which she played a young Jackie Kennedy.

Her theatre credits include "The Widow Claire" at the Old Globe Theatre and "Jake's Women," opposite Matthew Broderick, at Circle in the Square.

A New York native, Gellar resides in Los Angeles with her husband, Freddie Prinze Jr.

Alyson Hannigan was born in Washington D.C. on March 24, 1974. Her entry into show business began not long after.

The progeny of two still photographers, it now seems fated that Alyson would make her career in front of the camera. While still a baby, and later into her childhood, Alyson acted as a model when- ever her parents could use her for a photo shoot in their backyard studio. An early indication of her natural charisma was apparent. As Alyson herself states, "I just loved being in front of the camera. I'd perk right up."

As the years passed, Alyson gradually switched the focus of her attention from modelling to acting, working steadily in commercials from her Atlanta home. Highlights of her work include national commercials for McDonald's, Six Flags Amusement Parks, and Oreo cookies.

After meeting with such success in her commercial endeavors, it was decided that a move to Los Angeles was necessary in order for Alyson to continue the rapid pace of her career advancement. And so, when Alyson was 11, the family picked up and moved to California, giving Alyson the opportunity to break into film and television.

Not one to let opportunity pass her by, Alyson was eventually able to land a starring role in the Dan Aykroyd film, My Stepmother is An Alien, at the age of fourteen. This was her first "big break" into show business. Interestingly, in the film, the romantic interest of Alyson's character, Jessie Mills, is portrayed by Seth Green, who currently fills the same role, as Oz, in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Alyson's sympathetic portrayal of Jessie eventually earned her additional guest and starring roles in other film and television productions. [See Alyson's filmography for a complete listing] While she experienced the inevitable setbacks and dry periods during her career, Alyson's positive attitude saw her through the difficult times.

"Just don't let it (audition & rejection) get you down,"2 is the advice she offers to other Hollywood hopefuls. This determination and perseverence eventually saw Alyson emerge as one of this generation's hottest talents, with her starring role as fan-favorite "Willow" in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and this year's Paramount feature Dead Man on Campus.

When she's not busy with work, which isn't too often these days, Alyson enjoys bike riding, kick-boxing, surfing the web, and playing with her cats & dogs. She's also been known to find the time during her daily work schedule to call some of the fans that write to her, [See address in sidebar], and chat with them on the Posting Board on the official BtVS web site.

Ever the professional, Alyson also takes time out of her busy schedule to attend science fiction conventions and charity events on the weekends, in order to promote her show and interact with her growing legion of adoring fans. This type of fan recognition has not gone unappreciated - there are now ~ 100 web sites listed in the Alyson Hannigan Fan Webring, as well as mailng lists, fan-fiction societies, and IRC Chat channels dedicated to Alyson and "Willow", her BtVS alter-ego.

So what does someone who has already achieved so much wish for herself in the future? A Jim Carrey salary? A Julia Roberts profile? No, as Alyson explains, "...you have to go for the good things... world peace, a cure for everything, and a really cool house."

The humility, innocence, and sparkling intelligence behind that response is displayed each week in Alyson's portrayal of Willow. It is no wonder, then, why fans around the world will root for Alyson, as they do for Wil- low, in hoping her dreams come true. Of course, not being as selfless as Alyson, they'd be sure to add, "Ten more years of BtVS", and "Her choice of film roles during the upcoming hiatus", to her altruistic little list.

Nicholas Brendan Schultz Biography

Birthdate: April 12, 1971
Birthplace: Los Angeles
Height: 5'11"
Eyes/Hair: Brown/Hazel
Siblings: Kelly, Christian, and Kyle
Roommate: Dog, Zoey
Dating status: Married to actress Tressa DiFiglia since Sept. 1, 2001.

Nicholas Brendon, attended College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, California (he is a California native), where he played baseball. His original goal in life was to play professional baseball, but he had to give up that goal when he broke his arm in a manner which diminished his baseball performance. He decided to give acting a try (though he first had to work on eliminating his stutter) — his first job was a Clearasil commercial. But he wasn't getting a lot of work, so he got a behind the scenes job as a production assistant on "Dave's World." This led to an audition for the same series, which he nailed, and soon after his luck got a bit better, culminating in his landing the role of Xander on "BtVS." Nicholas enjoys baseball, basketball, and camping, and lives with his identical twin brother, Kelly (who is often mistaken for Nick by fans, and who doubled for Nick in episode 5.03, The Replacement). He's friends with fellow WB stars Jason Behr (Roswell) and Joshua Jackson (Dawson's Creek), and says that even if he could, he wouldn't change the character of Xander.

In television, he had a recurring role on the soap opera "The Young and the Restless," and starred in the pilot "Secret Lives." He played an evil corn follower in the feature film "Children of the Corn III-Urban Harvest," and starred in Los Angeles theatre productions of "The Further Adventures of Tom Sawyer" at Theatre West, "My Own Private Hollywood" at The Black Hole Theatre and "Out of Gas on Lovers' Leap" at the Pasadena Playhouse.

NAME: James Wesley Marsters

BORN: August 21, 1961

BIRTHPLACE: Modesto, California

ACCENTS: His "British" accent on the show is a fake (no, really?)

HOBBIES: playing guitar, singing, painting and writing

SCHOOLING: attended The Juilliard School

James Wesley Marsters was born on August 20th in Greenville, California, and he grew up in Modesto. His father used to be a minister, and his mother almost became a nun. James has one brother and one sister.

James graduated from Davis High School and attended the prestigious Julliard, the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts, and the American Conservatory Theatre. He spent about 10 years doing stage work and performed in various plays in New York, Chicago, and Seattle before finally moving to Los Angeles in order to pursue a career in film and television acting.

After landing a few guest spots on shows like "Northern Exposure" and "Moloney", his big breakthrough came in 1997 with his appearance as bleached blond British vampire Spike on the WB's hit show "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". Originally only hired for a few episodes, Marsters quickly captured the hearts of a legion of fans, and he has been a regular on the show since its fourth season and now has a long-term contract.

Besides working on "Buffy", James Marsters has guest-starred on a number of other tv shows like "Millennium", "Strange Frequency" and Gene Roddenberry's "Andromeda" (the last one to be broadcasted in the US some time in November), and he's also worked on a few movies. Marsters had a small role in the 1999 remake of "The House On Haunted Hill" and a major role in an independent movie called "Winding Roads". Moreover, he has done some stage work in Los Angeles.

His other talents include playing guitar and singing, which he occasionally does in public - at fan conventions, or, more recently, at a club in Santa Monica, California. And it looks like he's planning on pursuing a musical career, because he recently formed a band called GHOST OF THE ROBOT (the current line-up consists of two people: James himself and Charlie DeMars). As for an album, there isn't one yet, but the band are currently recording one, and it's set to release in June 2002.

James Marsters currently lives in Los Angeles.
